Ed Oswald, BetaNews: Sling Media is very active in the product announcement department at this year’s CES. Following the announcement of the SlingCatcher, the company has also proceeded to announce deals with Palm as well as the CBS Television Network.

The deal with Palm means that Slingboxes would be viewable on both Palm and Windows-based handhelds. The software is expected to be made available this quarter, and would work on the 3G-enabled Treo 700p, as well as the 700w, 700wx, and 750 models.

Still left for Sling Media to conquer is the Symbian OS, the only other major smartphone OS left on the market. To date, we haven’t seen any announcements in that department.

As for CBS, the network has announced a partnership with Sling Media to beta test the new Clip+Sling product, which allow users of the technology to record short clips and “sling” them to other users through the SlingPlayer application.

And that’s not all – SlingPlayer would be preinstalled on HP laptops in the United States, and the company announced it would be producing optimized software for Windows Vista. All in all, you have to say the folks in San Mateo are quite busy these days.
